So apparently 1 in 4 model 3 orders have been canceled
So are people taking their deposits and buying B olts?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Wow who would have thought that a fully refundable meme-deposit might not lead to an actual sale?

Maybe they are finally realizing the CEO is an idiot and the build quality is shit.

I’m still awaiting the Twitter war between him and the idiot in chief
it will start something like this.

Tesla? Tesla... Tesla...
Hey, isn’t that the company run by that “ Pedo Guy”???

So only a backlog of 300,000+ orders instead of 400,000+ orders.
Okay then.

Probably just got tired of waiting on never ending production delays and schedule slips.

Cancelled mine over a year ago. Not to buy a Bolt, to buy the S3, hah.

and CEO twitter slips.

Looks like those Model 3 Customers...
Bolted.

3/4 seems really solid given the wait and absence of a cheaper model. I bet other manufacturers would kill for that kind of loyalty.

I’ve said it ad nauseum, but a refundable deposit is worth somewhere between Notshit and Fuckall.
The PR stunt aspect of those deposits rubbed me the wrong way.
And to people who are old enough to remember, this is basically how the Tesla Roadster went down. And now we’re 15 years on, with not a lot more experience in order fulfillment, apparently...

I want to short the stock soooooo bad, but the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

Where is this guy getting his info from?

I beLEAF you might be right...
![]() 07/19/2018 at 14:28 |

How do you short a stock?
![]() 07/19/2018 at 14:30 |
|
You can narrow down the search for potential sources by looking at who is shorting TSLA as well as those who feel threatened by Tesla (Big Oil, other automakers, dealers, UAW, etc).

An American citizen and the head of an American company...

Well sure, it’s put up or shut up time. Coming up with the 1000 dollar deposit in the height of a hysterical rush to secure a place in line and qualify for a huge tax credit is one thing, coming up with the other 60,000 dollars when your number comes up is quite another. Honestly, I thought the cancellation rate would be higher .
![]() 07/19/2018 at 15:08 |

That was my thought as well. I mean, there are a ton of Tesla fanboys that love saying stuff about shorting stocks without knowing what it is, but this has me suspicious. It's usually an "anonymous source familiar with the matter". I don't trust my money with anonymous people, so why would I trust financial advice from one? Especially one who may be poised to profit from my panicking?

As with anything else these days, the truth likely lies somewhere in the middle.

Don’t - even an experienced trader can lose enormous amounts with a short. You effectively sell the stock on loan, and are responsible for interest plus dividends and replacing the stock with its current value. This is a bad idea with Tesla because it’s mostly emotionally driven - so there can be a huge disconnect from reality (like now). And there’s always a chance of a rabbit being pulled from a hat or it hanging on by a thread for years . Most shorts would hedge with calls, but they are expensive. Buying puts is another way to short, but they are also expensive. Expensive options are a sign Wall Street sees trouble ahead. Safest most optimal Tesla trade for the 99.9% is to stay away from the stock and its options . If you must own Tesla, buy a Model s/x/3.

Musk’s tweet is fake by the way, he really basically said thank you to President Gump
![]() 07/19/2018 at 15:42 |
|
Yes, I know it’s fake, I’m saying it doesn’t make sense. It’s an American company, headed by an American citizen, designing, building, launching rockets in America. Valid to claim those as “American ingenuity”

Great job!
![]() 07/19/2018 at 16:46 |

not only that, but Musk generally comes off as quite patriotic/proud of his adopted country. I wouldn't expect him to get angry at being called an American, unless he was already angry at the person calling him that and was looking for something to hit back with.

I wonder how many of them were for the $35000 base model that Tesla seems to have little interest in building?
![]() 07/19/2018 at 17:42 |
|
None, cause you have to give 2500 more choose your model and then wait 6to 9 more months
![]() 07/19/2018 at 18:11 |
|
Thats even worse then, since the pricier models are the more profitable ones.

Other manufacturers can sell their customers the entry luxury sedan they want right away. And probably put cash on the hood to get them to take it today.
